My Thoughts on verses 17-20

(1 Peter 1: 17-20) "17 And remember that the heavenly Father to whom you pray has no favorites. He will judge or reward you according to what you do. So you must live in reverent fear of him during your time as “foreigners in the land.” 18 For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And the ransom he paid was not mere gold or silver. 19 It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God. 20 God chose him as your ransom long before the world began, but he has now revealed him to you in these last days."

Wow, this verse is reminding us that we are foreigners in this land, to the ways of the world. Here is the fact though, we spend a great deal of time reminiscing, looking back on old habits. Like it is cool or something. This verse says, put those off, don't embrace the acts that we inherited from our anscestors. As a matter of fact, recieve the ransom that was paid on our behalf. Crazy. It is so easy to fall into old habits without replacing them with positive ones. I am not a reader, I am actually a watcher, I love TV. I love to "veg". This is not a good habit for my faith, it breeds laziness. I need to read and to condition my spiritual muscles to be ready for use! To be ready to react in any circumstance in a HOLY manner without hesitation. That is why I must study! To embrace this "ransom", and apply it to my life.

Just my 2 cents for the day.
